Meet friends at Beacon Bingo!
"I play at the Brighton (Moulscombe) club on a Saturday and during the week on-line a few times. The chat from members, CM's and 'buddies' is so entertaining and friendly...it makes a boring evening fun...chat's about anything and at times "where do you live" pops-up.Brighton I said and a couple of members also did too, One in particular and we found out he also went to the hall on a Saturday. We arranged to say 'Hi' the following week and we had a great night of Bingo and One or Two beers....lol
Thanks for not only a great club in my town but a great site....and creating a new friendship in real life too!"

MP Brian Binley hits out at bingo ‘granny tax’
By Nick Spoors Published on Tue Sep 14 08:34:49 BST 2010UNFAIR ‘granny taxes’ on bingo prizes should be brought in line with other gambling levies, an MP has said.
Brian Binley, the Conservative MP for Northampton South, is arguing that a tax of 20 per cent on bingo hall prizes, compared with 15 per cent on high street bookmakers, is penalising an industry which he says plays a useful social role.
He said: “I’ve been here several times before and I know the pleasure it brings and what sort of friendships and social networks are built up.
“It’s warm and comfortable and older people who go along during the day can get a decent meal.
“Bingo is one of the least damaging forms of gambling and yet it pays one of the highest rates of taxes, this ‘granny tax’.
“It’s actually more useful than some social services that the Government provides.”
Mr Binley visited Beacon Bingo in Weedon Road, St James, yesterday helping to call numbers and finding out opinions of players.
Bert Watson, aged 78, who was playing with two friends, said: “I play twice a week and would come to bingo regardless of the cost but it’s a matter of being fair. All gambling should be taxed the same across the board.” Another player, Margaret Brown, said: “Half the people here play bingo for the company.
“If costs go up it might put people off and they’d miss out on the social benefits.”
The 20 per cent gross profit tax is levied on bingo winnings, with the industry claiming that prizes could be higher if tax was lower.
Beacon Bingo manager Steve Young, said fewer costs for bingo halls would benefit customers and the Government.
He said: “We would make the prizes bigger if the tax was fairer but you don’t necessarily have to do that.
“You could make the whole offer better for the customers by making meals cheaper and other things.
“That would encourage people to come here and result in more tax overall.”

Chris Drake to run The Beacon Bingo web site
Beacon Entertainment have appointed Bingo innovator Chris Drake to launch and run their new On-Line bingo site.
Chris is a long time Bingo operator who has always been in the forefront of Bingo developments. He was in at the start of On-Line Bingo when he launched the hugely successful Gala On-line and its associated television channel. "I really can not tell you how exited I am to be asked to launch and run Beacon Bingo's new site. If I am asked to describe Beacon On-Line bingo I would say that it's. Entertaining, fun, colourful and game for a laugh, it doesn't take itself too seriously, it's neither young or old, it's a little bit cheeky, it's got flashing lights on, it's all encompassing. It's BINGO!
